Pride, The School Orchestra

I remember the year I was 8 years old and sold Christmas gift-wrap to fundraise for my school.  If I sold 60 boxes, I would “win” a Polaroid camera.  My love for goal-setting started right there.  The game was on!   Weeks later, I had sold 60 boxes…  Mostly to family, neighbors and well… my mom.  And when I got the camera ages later in the mail, I quickly wrote my initials on it, and began lugging it around with me everywhere… I was so proud.

So when Ana and Lindsey of Paul Revere Charter Middle School came into my studio on Tuesday, they had me at “We’re raising funds for our school.”   I not only donated, but I also took some pics of a few members of their orchestra “Pride” for use in their concert program.

I made sure each of the musicians played while I was shooting, and the singer sang.  I always believe in shooting an action, not a pose.  This is Ana Hilleboe, and her pictures cement my decision to learn violin!… just beautiful 🙂

From left to right, here’s Victor Li on the French Horn, Elana Ross singing her guts out in between giggles, and Lizze Sokolich on Sax.

I had a great time with these guys, and I love the pics – am I just being nostalgic or do they bring back memories of being in school and falling in love with learning an instrument?  Sorry neighbors, violin lessons coming up!

10 Things that make me Happy, April 2009

Check them out!

Miss Nadine

Nothing sexier than a girl having a good time!… especially if she’s a brunette in jeans and a white tank top… or no jeans and no tank top…  or, well it does go on and on, doesn’t it?….  That’s if you’ve got the right girl!

It’s torture not to share my favorite images from Nadine’s shoot, but they are definitely Rated R, and this is a family show.

So here are a couple of G-Rated ones… sorry fella’s :))

Z.LARRIS Fashion Shoot, Pt. 2

I’ve come a long way from my old school old style back in Jersey, where oh yes, I had the requisite parachute pants, fat laces, jordache jeans, and wig wam socks.  And I rocked every single one of those looks.  Nowadays, I try to hip it up a bit sometimes, but let’s face it – I think comfort is cool.  Which is why I loooove the Z.LARRIS line – most of the pieces are cashmere and every item is so yummy on my skin :))   Kathi Berman, the designer, is such a sweetheart and generously gave me a couple of my favorite pieces from her line as a Thank You after the shoot.  How cool is that?!   And today, she surprised me with the sexiest most beautiful Miriam Haskell ring I ever saw.  Yup, I still haven’t taken it off, and I’m wearing it to bed tonight… just the ring and nothing else, except of course my wig wam socks.

THANK YOU again Kathi, for classing a girl up!

Z.LARRIS Fashion Shoot

Crazy week – let me bottom-line it for you…  seven days of the NY Body Plan, a car accident (well two really), a ten-hour fashion shoot, and many other interesting life developments…  I have survived and am thrilled!… a bit dazed and confused with very sore quads perhaps, but very very happy 🙂

Here are a few sneak peek pics from Monday’s shoot for Z.LARRIS, a beautiful, cool, and comfy new clothing line.  I am happy to say that the crew and models said it was the most relaxed set they’ve been on.  Well amen to that.  And we were even ahead of schedule the whole day.  I shoot fast, I tell ya… but all credit and my deepest heartfelt appreciation goes to each of the wonderful, talented, and extremely kind people involved:

The Z.LARRIS clothing designer is Kathi Berman.
Make-up Artist is the super talented Mr. Jeff Siegel of Vanity Scientist.
Hair is creatively coiffed by Vanessa Amoretti of Chaos Beauty.
The on-top-of-it-all Photographer’s Assistant is Christopher Doody.
Models are: Diana D., Samantha Kong, and Stacey Villagomez
And a million thanks and one big fat juicy steak to my knight in shining armor and genius digital tech Russ Langford of Royal Capture

Stay tuned for Part Two tomorrow, and lot’s more exciting news coming soon!…

“Women are Crazy, Men are Stupid”

Stupid is as crazy does… Meet Howard Morris and Jenny Lee, an adorable couple who co-authored the new book “Women are Crazy, Men are Stupid” – Release date September 15th. So ask yourselves:  Does men’s stupid behavior drive women crazy, or does women’s madness leave men dumbfounded and driven to idiocy?  It’s a vicious cycle, but here’s the question Howard and Jenny dissect and answer in the book: What comes first, the crazy or the stupid?

My job was to get some great shots for their book jacket cover –  pics that will look like they were shot in a photo booth.  Aren’t these two adorable?

Howard and Jenny kindly gave me an advance copy of the book, and it is as hysterical and informative as it is honest and touching.  Not to mention inspiring… because as a single gal, it’s nice to know that a girl with a touch of madness can find a man who’s not that bright, and they can laugh together at the speed bumps on that wild happy road called relationship.

Sorry to be sappy, but hey, I’m a girl, and I get a little crazy.  It’s all men’s fault.  Oops, did I just give away the ending? :)))

Dancing in the Park

Oh, those wacky Boxer Wachler twins!… I love these girls, especially when I learned they love to dance! Here are Jordanna and Micaela getting their freak on to “Betty Bought a Bit of Butter.” You know me, I’m always up for learning a new dance, so I paid close attention. You have to sing the lyrics asfastasyoucan, while doing what resembles a flash-dance-irish-jig of sorts. I have since mastered the Betty Butter dance, but at the time I stumbled because of a faulty flip flop. The Boxer Wachlers understood.

Note: Holding hands and hugging is optional. I like it.

Please GENTLY grab your partner, and begin!… BettyBoughtaBitofButter….
