Street Tough + Supah Sexy!

I just wrapped three days of back to back shoots and intensive workshops – whew! and it got me thinking that there is no sweeter, more powerful, more feminine, and seductive combination than Strength plus Vulnerability. Now that to me is supah sexy!

A female boxing enthusiast and budding model, Lissarette has this knock-out killer combo down cold. This is another smoking hot set of photographs taken for your viewing and educational pleasure for the ONLINE BOUDOIR WORKSHOP. For this particular set, I showed how different lenses (the 24-70m 2.8, 50m 1.2, 50m 1.4, 85m 1.2, and 85m 1.8) photograph the same subject at different ranges and which is best for each situation!

So if you want to catch that action, sign up to go behind the scenes of this shoot and watch footage of me photographing Lissarette…

A Sultry Good Time

Photographs created at the Hotel Empire, NYC, May 2011. This shoot was a little mini-session with maximum sultriness. Mrs. C is a wife, mother, business owner, and was just about the easiest shoot I’ve had. She was adorable, flirtatious, comfortable with herself, and willing to try anything. She loves fashion and really high heels…

You would never guess this gorgeous woman’s age – which further illustrates that sexiness is a mindset!

Ok, her regular insanity workouts don’t hurt either 🙂

more soon!

Street Art, Firenze

Art takes many forms, and Firenze offers up an abundant supply!… I am so happy just walking around the streets of town, and all of my senses are on beauty overload. Whether it’s beautiful chalk paintings on the streets…

Curvelicious

Many photographers just getting started in boudoir photography ask me “how do you approach photographing plus-sized women?” My answer couldn’t be simpler: I approach each subject the exact same way, whether petite or plus-sized, male or female, child or adult. First and foremost, I focus on bringing out my subject’s personality, her love of life, love of herself, whatever is distinctive and true about my subject and the sensuality of the moment. Second, flattering someone is all about what you choose to focus on. You can easily flatter (or unflatter) any size/shape woman with lighting, angles, wardrobe and lens choices as well as the spirit in which you capture her.

I’ll let you in on a secret though, if you’re not accustomed to shooting boudoir. You can ask any pro who’s photographed a ton of women – they will all tell you that plus-sized women LOVE their curves! and if a plus-sized woman is coming to you for a photo shoot, she is digging who she is and wants to celebrate herself and her body! Ps. it’s actually the skinny gals who are more critical of their bodies and will require more encouragement and positive feedback during the shoot.

Here’s a few favorite shots from a recent mini-shoot I did with Julie, a beautiful new mom and plus-sized woman who enjoys her body and can demonstrate what I feel is most important to keep in mind when coaching and photographing women:

Sensuality and sexiness comes from within!…

Vintage Inspired

Madison is back for more boudoir! Do you all remember this gorgeous woman from last year – well it seems I created a boudoir shoot addict!  She wanted to create a very vintage-inspired shoot, channeling Vogue circa 1940’s and Rita Hayworth.

All photographs created at Christa Meola Pictures Studio, Los Angeles, CA copyright 2010 by Christa Meola

Madison is a breast cancer survivor, and one thing I love and want to celebrate about her is her hair, which has grown back in all it’s glory and then some 🙂  So we took a quick break from the Vintage action, so I could grab some more natural photographs of one of my favorite women who has become a very dear friend.

Can’t you just feel it?  I love Madison here.

christa-meola-nude-boudoir-photography-workshop-0005

Madison is a creative gal, and she created this set up completely on her own… I was just along for the ride and to push the shutter.  I adore the little scar evident on her chest, and chose to leave it unretouched.  It feels sacred, proud, and beautiful.

Next up on the blog: my birthday boudoir shoot – yikes!  I am in front of the camera this time 🙂

Stay tuned!

Viceroy Nudes, No. 1

Some sleek Nudes shot at my latest Boudoir Photography Workshop, shot at The Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica.  I photographed this same model on the Weston estate last summer for my birthday at Kim Weston‘s workshop.  I couldn’t get enough of her, so I hired her for my boudoir photographers so they can add some fine art nudes to their boudoir portraiture.  Here are a few of my favorites… Set No. 1

PS. busy-busy lately, I’ve got a book coming out: “Exposed! Redefining Boudoir” as well as a summer fully booked with shoots as I prepare to make a move to Europe in September.  Thanks for continuing to stop by the blog, leave a comment, and for all of your emails and calls – I’m posting these for you 🙂 and I love seeing a new brigade of boudoir photographers appreciating femininity in all it’s glory and imperfection 🙂

Wishing you lots of Love & Nudity,

Christa

Anna, No.2

Part 2 of Anna’s boudoir shoot shows a bit of her sweet and romantic side… versus the sexy vavavoom of Part 1.  Anna mentioned she loves vintage lingerie, reading, and that Casa Del Mar has a soft spot in her heart… so of course we did her boudoir shoot there 🙂

So without further ado, here’s part two!

And that about wraps up my favorite boudoir shoot to date.  Until the next one!

Nudes, No. 4

More Nudes from experimenting with Kim Weston at one of the Weston Workshops… Nature is very inspiring, and the lines of trunks, leaves, rocks, beaches etc. beg for bold composition… not to mention the beautiful lines of a curvaceous female form 🙂

christa-meola-nude-photography-weston-1001

Kim Weston was shooting this model right before me, and as he handed it off to me, he encouraged me to “cut the limbs off!” … so I tried 🙂  Usually, I’m not attracted to bizarre tense cold harsh images  — I tend to be attracted to voluptuous full of life positive happy fun images, but I went with it – and Kim’s suggestion – so I tried cutting off some limbs!…

I’m a Catholic girl, and I can get into images of Christ’s sacrifice…

christa-meola-nude-photography-weston-1002christa-meola-nude-photography-weston-1003

Ok, enough of chopping limbs off… I’m going for the full body, in nature…

One last installment of Nudes from the Weston Workshop to come… :))
